Eyes Wide Shut

Posted on 27/10/2014

The art of soul is more than artifice

Buried beneath the layer of religion

A hijab wrapped around their faces

Hidden agendas

Veiled intentions

Moral sanctions

This shimmy sham of illusion

But the mind can see the delusion

Our eyes have learned to talk

But they speak in silence

A raucous babble in mobile minds

Voices in our heads

Speak of disaster

The rape and the plunder

They see the anger

As families are torn asunder

They pray for forgiveness

For crimes they did not witness

They plead for mercy

Amidst the rumour and heresy

Shut the door on your hurt and pain

But leave the window open

The eyes shall see the lies

And the tongue shall learn to speak
